A dental clinic works in two things at once: a mouth, tooth by tooth, and a course of treatment — the plan you quoted, and the visits that work through it.

The Dental plugin gives you both in one section of the patient file: the chart of the mouth, the course with its priced items, the visits that carry the money, and the pictures. The course, the quote and the visits are the platform's own records — the same ones physiotherapy uses — so a dental visit prices, invoices and reports exactly like every other record in the clinic.

The chart leads, because it is how a dentist reads a mouth. Click a tooth and its history opens beside it: what was recorded about it, and what was actually done to it.

The chart

Thirty-two teeth, Universal numbering, each carrying the last condition recorded for it — healthy, caries, filling, crown, root canal, missing, extraction, implant, fracture. A tooth nobody has written about reads as healthy, which is not the same fact as one you recorded as healthy, and the panel says which it is.

The chart is read as findings, so a healthy tooth is ivory and carries no colour at all: everything you can see colour on is something somebody has to act on. Where the colour sits is part of the finding — caries, a filling, a crown and a fracture are drawn in the crown, a root canal and an implant in the root, and a tooth that is gone is drawn as the empty socket it left, with a cross through it if it was extracted. The legend under the chart is drawn with the same teeth, so it can never disagree with the mouth above it.

The two rows follow the arch, and the gap in the middle of each is the midline: the mouth reads in quadrants, the way you examine it.

The course of treatment

A course is the work you planned for this patient: a complaint, a start date, and the items it is made of. A patient can have more than one open at a time — the upper jaw and the lower jaw are two courses — and each keeps its own quote and its own visits.

Items: the quote

Each item is one thing you intend to do: a tooth, a service, and what it is expected to cost.

The service comes from your own catalogue — "حشو", "خلع ضرس", "تركيب طقم" are services you type once and price once, and they are the same services you sell and invoice everywhere else in the system. Picking one fills in its price on the item, which you can then change for this patient.

An item that is not tooth-specific — a cleaning, a whitening — simply has no tooth, and reads as the whole mouth rather than as tooth zero.

The total of the items that are not cancelled is the figure you quote the patient. An item with no price is called out as unpriced, never counted as zero.

A quote is not a charge

Nothing is ever billed from an item. Raising a service's price in your catalogue tomorrow does not change a quote you gave today: the item keeps the price it was written with. The money is on the visits.

Visits: the money

A visit (shown on screen as a session) is one time the patient sat in the chair. It can carry an optional name — "Root canal, second sitting" — which becomes its title and can be searched in the sessions list; the code still identifies it. It carries its own date, its own price, its own payment state, and its attendance — attended, cancelled by the patient, cancelled by the clinic, or did not attend.

What you actually did is recorded on the visit as service lines: "خلع ضرس" on tooth 7, at its price. One visit can carry several — a filling on one tooth and an extraction on another are one visit and two lines.

The visit itself names teeth — pick them in the Teeth field at the top of the work section, above the service search, before any work is written, because that is the order a dentist works in. Every service line you then add starts on those teeth, and a line that names none is billed on them.

A service line names teeth, plural. Pick one tooth or several on the same line: four fillings in one sitting is one line with four teeth, and it is saved as four lines of work — one per tooth, each at that price — so the total is the four fillings you actually did and the tooth history of each of the four teeth shows it. Work that is not tooth-specific — a cleaning, a whitening — names no tooth and reads as the whole mouth.

Opening a visit from a tooth on the chart ("add procedure") starts every service line on that tooth, so the number you just clicked is not typed again.

A visit is written on a page of its own rather than in a panel over the chart — which matters here more than anywhere, because the form used to cover the very mouth you were reading the tooth from. Saving takes you to the visit that was written, and Back there returns you to the chart.

That single act does all of it: it records the clinical work, it prices the visit, it feeds the invoice, and it is what the tooth history is read from. Nothing is typed twice.

A visit records who performed it. One person or several, each marked performer or assistant, and a service line split between colleagues can name its own — the extraction by one dentist, the cleaning by another. A line that names nobody is performed by whoever performed the visit, and says so rather than reading as unassigned. It is the same behaviour, and the same picker, as Physiotherapy — the visit is one record whatever the specialty. Note that this is not the account that typed the visit in, which the visit also records and which is often reception's.

The printed work sheet names the people who performed each line, with their roles.

A visit does not need a course. A walk-in who wants one extraction and nothing else is a visit with one service line, priced and paid like any other.

The tooth history

Open a tooth and you see two lists: what was recorded about it on the chart, and what was done to it — each entry with its date, the service, and what it cost.

That second list has no table of its own. It is assembled from the service lines on the visits, which is exactly why it can never disagree with what the patient was charged.

A session that names a tooth but has no service line on it yet — an examination, or a sitting you have not priced — still appears in that tooth's list, under the session's name, with no price.

Images

X-rays and photographs are filed under the patient, optionally under a tooth, and optionally under a course of treatment. They open from the chart and from the images segment.

Tooth numbering

Universal (1–32) or FDI two-digit (11–48). Egyptian and European practice reads FDI; American schooling reads Universal, and reading the wrong one means looking at the wrong tooth.

It changes labels, not records

Every tooth is stored the same way whichever you choose. Switching re-labels the chart, the plan, the visits and every printout, and rewrites nothing — so you can change your mind without touching a single record.

The board also links to the two lists a dental clinic keeps elsewhere: the services it quotes and bills from, and the printables it hands the patient. Both belong to the whole clinic, so they are edited where they live.

Two sheets ship with the module, and both are yours to edit in Print templates:

Both draw the tooth chart on the page — the whole mouth, each tooth in the colour of its last recorded condition, and the teeth a plan item names outlined so a reader can see the quote against the mouth. Planned teeth are outlined, not coloured differently: the colour is what the tooth is, and the outline is what you intend to do about it.

Both are built from the same fields, so a third sheet — a referral letter, a claim form — is a template you write, not a feature you wait for.

Switching the module off

Switching Dental off in Plugins hides the tab. It deletes nothing: the chart, the courses, the visits and the money are all still there when you switch it back on.
